Nick Thomas is the founder and principal of Thomas Works Architecture + Design, an architecture practice rooted in collaboration, pragmatism, and thoughtful design. He graduated from Auburn University’s architecture program in 2008, completing his thesis year at the Urban Studio. Earlier in his studies, Nick spent a semester at the Rural Studio during his second year and studied abroad in Rome during his fourth year—experiences that continue to shape his approach to design, emphasizing context, craft, and the human experience of space.

For the past fourteen years, Nick has called San Francisco home, focusing primarily on residential projects while also branching into select commercial work. He believes the best architecture comes from open communication with clients, where ideas are shared freely and solutions grow from a pragmatic foundation. This collaborative spirit ensures that each project not only reflects the client’s vision but also functions beautifully in daily life.

When not in the studio, Nick enjoys working with ceramics, climbing at the gym, and spending time in the Inner Sunset with his partner and their two pets, Penny and Dexter.
